The Physical Items Search will be updated and redesigned for better usability, performance, productivity, and overall user experience.

  • Ability to use multi-value selection facets.

  • Table and record views for search results.

  • Side-by-side item editor.

  • Enhanced navigation.

The user will be able to quickly find and perform actions on items.

Record CZ Changes to an Electronic Resources in the History Tab

What's New Highlights Impact

Changes to electronic resource fields that are managed in the CZ will appear in the history tab.

  • Meaningful "Old" and "New" values.

  • Indication of the time the change was done.

It will be easier to identify changes that were done, analyze and correct issues for electronic resources.

Physical Holdings Retention

What's New Highlights Impact

Alma will support retention of the holdings record, in addition to the existing retention of physical items and bibliographic records.

  • It will be possible to prevent the deletion of a holdings record containing a retention note, so the information in the holdings record is not lost.

  • Operators attempting to delete a holdings record that is committed to retain will be notified of its status.

The ability to prevent deletion of holding records will ease the management for institutions that maintain their retention information in the holdings record.

Sort Online Services by Current Access

What's New Highlights Impact
Sorting of full text services by current access will be supported. This sorting option will be configurable. "Current access" refers to availability that includes the current year, as determined by the portfolio's coverage and embargo settings. Prioritizing services with current access will help end users quickly find the link most likely to provide the content they need.

Keep Perpetual Portfolios Active upon Deletion in Community Zone

What's New Highlights Impact

Currently, when portfolios are deleted from a non-auto-delete electronic collection, the portfolios are localized but are deactivated and therefore do not appear for patrons in discovery.

A new option will allow institutions to define that portfolios will remain active in this case.

  • It will be possible to define on service level the behavior upon portfolios deletion.

  • The options will allow deactivating (as today), keep all portfolios active or keep portfolios active if they were marked as perpetual.

  • A report in the CZUTL will reflect the situation.

Keeping perpetual portfolios active will ensure that they are available for patron usage.

It will save time and effort from staff users by eliminating the need to review and re-activate manually.

Open the next Cycle of Predicted Items in a Click

Institutions will be able to open the next cycle of predicted items in balk.

  • A new job will allow opening the next cycle of predicted items for a given set of records.

  • The job report will include numbers of created items and will notify upon errors.

A streamline process will ease the workflow when there are many print journal subscription, and eliminate errors.

Management and Usage of Proxies in the Network Zone

What's New Highlights Impact

It will be possible to define and use proxies at the Network Zone level and distribute to all Consortia members. This will enable Collaborative Networks to define and maintain shared proxy configurations centrally, when using the same proxies in the entire network, instead of configuring identical proxies separately in each Institution Zone.

  • Central definition and management of proxy entities in the Network Zone.

  • Automatic distribution of Network Zone-defined proxies to all Consortia members.

  • Eliminates the need to duplicate proxy configurations across Consortia members Institution Zones.

  • Enable the use of Network Zone –defined proxies for electronic resources managed in the Network Zone.

  • Support collaborative networks using shared proxy infrastructures across multiple members.

This enhancement will simplify proxy management in collaborative networks by introducing a single point of configuration at the Network Zone level.

By reducing duplication, configuration effort, and the risk of inconsistencies between Institution Zones, it will improve operational efficiency for both Network Zone administrators and Member administrators.

In addition, it will allow greater flexibility in using proxies which are not the default when defining electronic resources in the network.

Upcoming Electronic Collections

What's New Highlights Impact

Providers might offer electronic collections before their content is fully defined (“Upcoming Collections”).

Alma Community Zone will include these collections and notify customers when they become available for activation.

  • Display provider-supplied information, such as the planned release date.

  • Allow users to subscribe to notifications when a collection becomes available for activation.

Institutions will have early visibility into upcoming collection information in Alma, enabling them to better understand what to expect.

In addition, the notification capability will remove the need for periodic manual status checks, saving time and improving workflow efficiency.

Management of Electronic Collections Pending Deletion

What's New Highlights Impact

Details on electronic collections pending deletion will appear in Alma Community Zone before the actual deletion.

  • Display additional information such as R eason and Planned deletion date.

  • Display information on alternative electronic collections.

  • Notify in a dedicated report type in the CZ updates task list.

Allow institutions to prepare for electronic collection deletion before it takes place: check holdings, activate alternative collection etc.

Administration of Physical Item Templates

Currently, item templates are modified only during the update of an item.

With this new feature, users will be able to view and manage existing templates separately through a dedicated list.

  • Physical Item templates will be displayed in a dedicated list.

  • It will be possible to view, edit, add and delete Physical Item templates from this list.

Institutions will gain better visibility of existing templates and will be able to manage them efficiently.
