RapidR Returnables Service Expectations

Libraries participating in RapidR Returnables follow established service expectations in the following areas:

• Turnaround time
• Shipping
• Loan Period
• Reciprocity

Turnaround Time

RapidR participants agree to provide a 24-hour turnaround time (Monday-Friday) for lending requests. This is described as follows:

• Locating and fulfilling a request within 24 hours of receipt.
• Updating to unfilled or bad citation, within 25 hours, for an item that cannot be located on the first retrieval attempt.

Shipping

Participants agree to do the following:

• The book should be shipped in a manner to ensure receipt by the borrowing library within four business days (96 hours).

Loan Period

RapidR participants agree to the following:

• Loan periods must be at least eight weeks in use by the borrowing library's patron. This includes shipping time.
• The lending library sets the due date. The minimum loan period is eight weeks of use.
• Recalls are permitted and are sent through the lender's local ULL management system.
• Special use items are permitted special due dates.

Reciprocity

Participants agree to reciprocity for RapidR requests.

• Reciprocity does not automatically extend to requests received by means other than Rapid.
