How Claiming an INN-Reach Item Returned Works

When you claim an INN-Reach item returned, INN-Reach updates the system at the patron site, INN-Reach Central Server, and owning site as follows:

  • At the patron site, the system:
    • Removes the virtual item(s) and INN-Reach hold(s) from the patron record.
    • Increments the patron's CL RTRND count.
    • Sends a circulation message for each INN-Reach item claimed returned to the appropriate owning site(s) via the INN-Reach Central Server.
  • At the INN-Reach Central Server, the circulation message causes the system to update the STATUS of the item in the INN-Reach Catalog to 'm' (MISSING) and passes the circulation message to the owning site.
  • At the owning site, the circulation message causes the system to update the item record as follows:
    • Changes the item's STATUS value to 'z' (CLAIMS RETURNED).
    • Updates the LCHKIN field.
    • Clears the OUT DATE, DUE DATE, and LOAN RULE fields.
    • Removes the virtual patron and the INN-Reach hold from the item record.
    • Replaces the INN-Reach message field with a claimed returned note similar to the following:

      IR02:20091211000000:Mon 14 Dec 2009:Claimed returned by .p11196

    • Adds the item record to the On Search file.
