Using ArticleReach

If your library has acquired ArticleReach, your patrons can request copies of journal articles, in both print and electronic form, through a union catalog on a central server. The system collects data from all article requests generated by sites participating in your ArticleReach system in a single database on the central server.

Your library can use ArticleReach to do the following:

• Patrons can initiate article requests via WebPAC or a link resolver such as WebBridge. The system verifies each patron against the patron record at the home library to determine if the user can request the article.
• Staff at member libraries use Sierra to process, check in, and view article requests, as well as print paging slips and notify patrons that the requested item is ready for pickup. Your library can specify a preferred method by which to receive articles.
• If the ArticleReach Mediation feature is enabled at your library, staff can intervene and modify patrons' requests at certain points in the ArticleReach requesting process.
• If your library has acquired the Pass2ILL for ArticleReach product, staff can manage unsuccessful ArticleReach requests through traditional ILL department resources.
• If your library has acquired the ArticleReach e-Delivery Integration product, the system automatically updates request data and notifies patrons when staff fill requests via third-party document transmission software.
• Patrons can view or cancel requests in the ArticleReach request display in the View Your Patron Record feature in WebPAC.
• ArticleReach provides statistical reports that include borrowing and lending summaries, usage counts to support compliance with copyright agreements, and exportable request details.
