Coding Records for INN-Reach System Ownership

An INN-Reach system might acquire a resource on behalf of all its members and have one participating Local Server catalog the resource. In order to display system ownership rather than ownership by a specific site on the Local Server, staff on the Local Server can code the records for system ownership.

To code a bibliographic record for system ownership:

  1. Retrieve the bibliographic record.
  2. Identify which fixed-length field that your Local Server uses to control INN-Reach record contribution and display (for example, BCODE1, BCODE2, or BCODE3).
  3. Change the value of the contribution field to one of the following values:

    CODESYSTEM ACTION
gThe message "<SYSTEM> Resource" appears in the summary box on the Central WebPAC and the holdings are displayed on the Local WebPAC.
oThe message "<SYSTEM> Resource" appears in the summary box on the Central WebPAC and the bibliographic record and all attached records are suppressed from display on the local WebPAC. (Call Innovative if you want you use this code to suppress records in your Local Server.)
