Monitoring Load Queues to INN-Reach Central Server

Rapido Consortial Borrowing does not support this functionality.

You can determine the status of your Local Server's link to the INN-Reach Central Server by monitoring the number of records waiting to be sent in the local transaction file or waiting to be processed by the INN-Reach Central Server. This information is useful in determining whether or not the Local Server is succesfully sending local transactions, and the INN-Reach Central Server is successfully processing those transactions.

To monitor the status of the link to the INN-Reach Central Server:

  1. Access Admin Corner.
  2. Select the S > SYSTEM status option.

The SYSTEM status display includes a "Transaction File Statistics" section, which includes the following lines:

Local Server Processing Line
Summarizes the progress the Local Server has made in processing the transactions in the local file. The Local Server processes this file as a circular file. The start position increases as records are added to the link file; when the maximum start position is exceeded, the start position reverts to zero. For example:

NON-CIRC link to OHIOL starts at 74464, and has 14643 records, file is 5% full.

Contact Innovative if you observe either of the following conditions:

  • The start position does not change, and the number of records in the link file is increasing.
  • The link file is close to 100% full. (If this file fills up, it stops the transmission process entirely.)
Central Server Processing Line
Summarizes the progress the INN-Reach Central Server has made in processing the transactions being sent from the Local Server. For example:

OHIOL transaction file has 478588 blocks, 1730 not processed. File is 24% full.

In these examples, OHIOL is the INN-Reach Central Server.

The display of these lines can vary depending on the following conditions:

  • If a Local Server contributes to more than one INN-Reach System, the SYSTEM status screen displays information about the link to each system.
  • If your Local Server is configured as two machines, the status of the INN-Reach Central Server's transmission file is included only when the SYSTEM status option is selected on the second machine; when the SYSTEM status option is selected on the first machine, information about the second (local) machine's transaction file is displayed instead.
  • If your Local Server has had the Separate Record-Loading and Circulation Queues feature enabled, the display reflects whether the Local Server is processing transactions from separate queues. The primary queue is labelled NON-CIRC. All other queues are labelled CIRC <n>.
Increasing Record Loading Efficiency at High-volume Sites

If your Local Server generates a high volume of transactions, Innovative can enable features that optimize record loading throughput from your Local Server to the INN-Reach Central Server. See Increasing Record Loading Efficiency at High-volume Sites for more information.
