Renewing an INN-Reach Item from the Owning Site
To have this feature enabled on your Local Server, ask your Central System Administrator to contact Innovative. Innovative cannot enable the feature unless all the Local Servers in your INN-Reach system are running the appropriate release.
If the "Renewal at Owning Site" feature is enabled on your Local Server, you can renew INN-Reach items that belong to your site and are currently checked out to remote site patrons. To do so, renew the item without the patron record.
When you renew an INN-Reach item from the owning site, the system changes the due date in the item record and sends a message to the patron site to update the virtual item record. Note that the system does NOT:
- Query the patron site to determine if the patron is eligible to renew the item.
- Enable you to add a fine to the virtual patron record if the item you renew is overdue. The system displays only the Don't Renew and Renew with no fine options. Any fines for overdue INN-Reach items are added at the patron site.
