Source of search results

Search results displayed in the Central Request Interface are retrieved from the Central Discovery Index (CDI). CDI is a centralized index of content aggregated from publishers, repositories, and other metadata sources.

Because records are retrieved from CDI:

  • Results aren't pulled from the ILS or Rapido connections.

  • A single result may represent merged metadata from multiple sources.

The CDI content is updated on a scheduled basis, which affects when records become available in search results.

  • Titles created in your ILS are uploaded to Rapido via scheduled OAI ingestion.

  • Rapido records are published to the General Index during scheduled publishing cycles.

  • Records are then indexed in the CDI, where Vega retrieves them.
Index updates for records not already in CDI occur twice a week, following this update schedule.

As a result, there may be a delay between changes in your local systems and their appearance in the Central Request Interface.
