Mobile Release Notes 2025.39sv
This is a server-side update, meaning improvements are made to our backend systems and do not require a new version of the app in the app store.
How it Works
-
No need to download anything: You won’t see a new version number or need to visit the app store.
-
Updates happen automatically: When you're connected to the internet, the app will reflect the latest changes without any action required.
Same app, better experience: These updates enhance functionality, fix bugs, and improve performance—all without changing the app you already have installed.
New Features
-
Polaris | Public Note Display in Item Records: Libraries can now choose to display the Public Note from item records directly in the mobile app. This allows patrons to see important information about an item, such as special handling instructions or location details, without needing staff assistance.
-
Bibliocommons List Support (V2): Added support for V2 Bibliocommons lists, allowing the app to retrieve and display items from both legacy and V2 list formats.
-
Polaris | Account Expiry Display on Home Screen: Libraries can now choose to show a patron’s account expiry directly on the home screen (when this information is available from the ILS), helping patrons stay aware of upcoming account renewals.
-
Polaris | Improved eContent link support: The app now recognizes eContent items stored in the MARC 956 tag (in addition to 856) for libraries where Polaris has pre-parsed these records. This ensures eContent links display correctly regardless of the tag used.
-
Polaris | Added option to control volume selection when placing holds: You now have the ability to enable or disable volume selection across an app or template in the Content Management System. By default, volume selection is enabled, meaning patrons will see the option to choose a volume when one or more copies include a volume number. If this option is disabled, the volume selection step is removed, simplifying the hold process.
-
Sierra & Polaris | Customizable Hold Status Labels: Libraries can now configure custom labels for hold statuses in the app. This allows staff to tailor how holds are displayed to patrons, providing clearer and more meaningful information about item availability for both Sierra and Polaris systems.
Enhancements
-
Barcode Check Digit Handling: The app now supports dropping the check digit on scanned library cards while still allowing patrons to log in using manual entry without including the check digit. This update ensures consistent login behavior across both iOS and Android devices, preventing issues where manual entry or camera scans would fail due to extra digits.
-
Barcode Display Improvements: The app now correctly handles patron barcodes that include spaces. Previously, barcodes with spaces, common on older patron cards, might not display in the app. The “My Barcode” feature has been updated to ignore spaces, ensuring all patrons can see and use their barcodes without needing to update their records.
-
Polaris | LinkedIn Learning Cataloged Titles: Cataloged LinkedIn Learning items now appear directly in the mobile app for Polaris libraries. Patrons can browse, access, and view these resources alongside other library materials, providing a seamless learning experience within the app.
-
Vega Search Provider | Support for Boundless and Recollect titles: Vega Search Provider now supports digital content from Boundless and Recollect, making more titles available and easier to discover through your library’s catalog.
-
Improved Login Experience: The login process now shows a progress bar instead of static dots, and SSO error messages are clearer and more user-friendly, making signing in easier and more informative for patrons.
-
Improved Carousel loading and title formatting: Carousel content now loads more efficiently, and titles are automatically cleaned of extraneous characters. This ensures a smoother experience for patrons and clearer, more consistent carousel titles in your app.
-
Vega Search | Overdrive Cover Art: For libraries using Vega as their search provider, the app now correctly retrieves cover images for Overdrive titles. Previously, Vega search results caused the app to contact the ILS for cover art as if the items were physical, which could result in missing or incorrect images. This update bypasses the ILS and fetches cover art directly from Overdrive, ensuring accurate display for patrons.
-
Payments | Add barcode to Stripe payments: The Stripe payment history in the Content Management System now includes the user barcode along with the charge title, making it easier to track and reconcile payments to specific patrons.
Bug Fixes
-
Carousel Performance Improvements: Resolved an issue where some carousels were timing out during updates. Carousels now load more reliably and quickly for a smoother patron experience.
-
Resolved Missing Translations: Fixed an issue where some translations were not displaying correctly due to a period in the property name. Patrons will now see accurate localized text throughout the app.
-
Polaris | Self-Check Borrowed Item Titles: Fixed an issue where self-check receipts were displaying barcodes (with trailing letters) instead of item titles. Patrons can now see the correct titles for all items borrowed via self-check, regardless of Polaris version.
-
Ad-Hoc Notification Duplication: Resolved an issue where some patrons were seeing ad-hoc notifications appear twice in the app. The duplication was not related to templates or linked accounts and could potentially affect any user. Notifications now display correctly, ensuring each patron receives a single, accurate copy of each message.
-
CloudLibrary Access Improvement: Resolved an issue where certain patron IDs were being rejected when attempting to borrow eContent through CloudLibrary. Patrons can now borrow CloudLibrary titles in the app more reliably.
-
Carousel Record ID lookup reliability: Fixed an issue where extra whitespace in carousel record IDs could cause lookups to fail, ensuring all carousel content displays correctly.
-
Sierra | Improved book cover display: Fixed an issue where only small book jackets were being retrieved from Syndetics. The app now retrieves both small covers (for list views) and large covers (for detailed views), giving patrons a clearer browsing experience.
-
Wallet Pass | Child template Bundle ID fix: Resolved an issue where the Bundle ID for child templates wasn’t retrieved correctly from the root app when setting up a wallet pass for the first time, ensuring proper initialization of passes. This solves the issue of seeing a different logo on the wallet pass than what is configured.
