Designs Analytics Roles

The Design Analytics role.

Before you can create reports in Alma, you must be assigned a Design Analytics role. After you are assigned one of these roles, the Design Analytics links appear at Main Menu > Analytics. Follow this link to create reports/dashboards.

The following design analytics roles are available:

  • Designs Analytics– allows access to all subject areas and reports.
  • Designs Analytics – Acquisition– limits access to the E-Inventory > Cost Usage, Funds Expenditure, Purchase Requests, Licenses, and Usage Data (COUNTER) subject areas. Includes Titles, Local Authorities, Benchmark and External Vendor data.
  • Designs Analytics – Fulfillment– limits access to the Borrowing Requests (Resource Sharing), Course Reserves, Fines and Fees, Fulfillment, Lending Requests (Resource Sharing), and Requests subject areas. Includes Titles, Local Authorities, Benchmark, and External Vendor data.
  • Designs Analytics – Resources– limits access to the Digital Inventory, Digital Usage, Digital Waitlist, E-Inventory, Link Resolver Usage, Physical Items, and Physical Items Historical Events subject areas. Includes Titles, Local Authorities, Benchmark and External Vendor data.
  • Designs Analytics – System Usage– limits access to Analytics Objects, Analytics Usage Tracking, API Usage, Configurations (Limited), DARA, and System Events subject areas. Includes Titles, Local Authorities, Benchmark and External Vendor data.
  • Designs Analytics – Users– limits access to Users subject area. Includes Titles, Local Authorities, Benchmark and External Vendor data.
Primo customers with any of the Designs Analytics roles have access to the Discovery subject area; however, those with limited roles do not have the Primo analytics options on their Alma Analytics menu.

The following table describes the areas that are accessible for the limited roles (see also: Limited Designs Analytics Roles.pptx)

  • To enable the limited roles, set the support_partial_analytics_designer parameter (Configuration > Analytics > General Configuration > Other Settings) to true.
  • All reports, both those in the catalog and those in the Shared with Me area, are visible to users with the limited roles, but only ones in the subject areas to which they have access run successfully. For more information on reports in Alma Analytics, see Running Out-of-the-Box Reports and Sharing Analytics Objects with Other Users.
  • Limited roles that do not allow access to patron user data still allow access to staff user data. For example, borrower details are not accessible, but loan operator details are.
  • All roles allow write access to analytics reports, analysis, dashboards, DV projects, etc.
  • If you have multiple concurrent sessions of Alma open, you may have connection problems with Alma analytics after accessing design analytics.
