Author Details

The author details page provides a list of titles by the author that are cataloged in the system. The page recommends the number of copies to purchase of the author's next title release based upon previous demand.

Author Information

Author information includes the author's name and a relevant image, when available.

Purchase Recommendation

Decision Center recommends the suggested quantity to buy for an author's next title release based on analysis of a specified existing title's demand pattern.

To view a recommendation:

  1. Specify a Max wait time (days).
Max Wait Time

The maximum wait time is the maximum number of days you deem acceptable to fulfill a hold request. Since the hold queue can accumulate substantially before a title is available, Decision Center allows wait time to exceed the specified threshold for two months following a title's acquisition when calculating the recommended quantity to buy. This helps avoid over-buying just to meet initial demand. The recommendation is designed to ensure that the limit is not breached after the first two months of title circulation.

  1. (Optional) Narrow the list of titles by choosing a Collection.

  2. In the Title List, choose a representative title to use as the demand model.

    Click the check mark within a circle that appears next to the title. The graphic turns orange to indicate the selected row.

    Titles for which the first item Created Date is less than four months old cannot be selected. The circle graphic turns red if you try to select one of these titles.

    If Decision Center has insufficient circulation data for a selected title, no recommendation appears.

  3. (Optional) Choose an alternative title to compare the recommendation results.

Title List

The title list includes a row for each title, associated with the current author, found in the system. The list includes the following information:

The results row number.

Title

The title, taken from the title field of the bibliographic record. Each title entry links to the corresponding Title Details page.

Created Date

The date upon which the associated record was created.

Number of Copies

The number of copies of the title held by the library system.
