Age of Collection Weeding
The Age of Collection Weeding tool identifies items that are candidates for weeding/deselection based on a specified number of years since publication date.
The Age of Collection Weeding tool includes the following components:
Initial Filters
You can set the following filters to configure this tool:
Location
The Location filter options reflect the branch locations recognized by your library system. The data is limited to the Owning Locations you select. You can select any number of available locations, but you must select at least one to run the tool. The default is All Locations.
Locations
To determine the location, Decision Center first identifies the location code (shelf code) in the item record. The system then looks up the location code in the Locations Served file and uses the associated branch location code. (For more information on the Locations Served table, see the Sierra WebHelp or the Millennium Innovative Guide & Reference.) The descriptive name associated with the branch location code comes from the Branches file. (For more information on the Branches table, see the Sierra WebHelp or the Millennium Innovative Guide & Reference.) If the system cannot find the location code or the branch name in the Locations Served file, Decision Center displays the location code that appeared in the item record.
Physical Format
Limits the data to the physical formats you select. You can select any number of available formats, but you must select at least one to run the tool. The default is All Physical Formats.
The Physical Format filter options reflect the formats configured on the Physical Format page of the Decision Center Admin section.
Collection
Limits the data to the collections you select. You can select any number of available collections, but you must select at least one to run the tool. The default is All Collections.
The Collection filter options reflect the collections configured on the Collection page of the Decision Center Admin section.
Call Number Range
The Call Number Range filter options use the call number ranges defined in your library system's statistical categories (SCAT) tables. The data is limited to the call number ranges you select. You can select any number of available ranges, but you must select at least one to use this tool. The default is All Call Number Ranges.
Limits
Years Since Publication Date
Limits the results to items published within the specified number of years.
Data Columns

The results row number.

Selected (checked) rows are included in recalculations and exports. Unselected rows are omitted from recalculations and exports.
Item Location
The location of the item.
Call Number
The call number from the item record. If the item record call number does not exist, Decision Center uses the call number from the bibliographic record.
Barcode
The barcode from the associated item or patron record.
Title
The title, taken from the title field of the bibliographic record. Each title entry links to the corresponding Title Details page.
Author
The name of the author, taken from the author field of the bibliographic record.
Each author's name is a link to the Author Details page.
Publication Date
The publication date of the title taken from the publication information (imprint) field of the bibliographic record.
Total Circs
The total lifetime circulations (checkouts and renewals) of the title.
Circs Last # Months
The number of circulations (checkouts and renewals) over the number of months specified in the initial filters.
Copies in Branch
The number of copies with the associated branch location code in the item record.
Copies in System
The total number of copies of the title at all locations.
Last Check-in Date
The last check-in date recorded for the item.
Created Date
The date upon which the associated record was created.
Item Price
The per-item cost from the PRICE field of the item record.
Item Status
The status of the item. This report only shows items with the status of AVAILABLE.
Remedy Filters
You can apply the following filters to modify the results:
Created Before
Limits the results to records created before the specified date.
Last Check-in Date Before
Limits the results to items last checked in before the specified date.
List Price Less Than
Limits the results to items with a list price lower than the specified amount.
Don't Weed Last Copy in Branch
Omits titles for which there is only one copy in the branch.
Don't Weed Last Copy in System
Omits titles for which there is only one copy in the library system.
Number
The maximum number of rows to include in the results.
Shelf Space
The maximum shelf space allowed before a title is considered for weeding. Shelf space calculations depend upon the Average Width per Copy you specify for the associated collection when you create custom roll-up collection categories.
When you use the Shelf Space remedy filter, be sure to enter values of the same unit of measure as your Average Width per Copy entries.
