Integrating with Electronic Course Reserves and Media Management
Electronic Course Reserves is a family of products that enables your library to provide reserve material to patrons without placing a physical item on reserve.
If your library has acquired both Media Management and Copyright and Access functionality, you can attach electronic reserve material (magazine articles, musical scores, exams, and so forth) to bibliographic records. These digital objects can be files with any format (PDF, DOC, JPG, etc.) and can be scanned or imported locally to the library system server or linked via a URL from an external server.
You can use Course Reserves functionality to place these bibliographic records, with the attached digital files, on reserve. Encore provides facets for course and instructor names. Students can limit searches to a course or instructor name and view all associated materials from the catalog. Suppressed records attached to a course or instructor appear in the result set when accessed using these facets. The system provides direct access to any attached media item or electronic reserve via a thumbnail on the record detail view within Encore.
Integration with Copyright and Access means only valid users can access the content.
See your library system's documentation for more information on Electronic Course Reserves functionality.
This feature is enabled by default for libraries using Media Management or Electronic Course Reserves.
