Cancelling an ArticleReach Request

ArticleReach requests can be cancelled in the following ways:

Notifying Patrons of System or Staff Cancellations

When the system or a staff member cancels a request, the system automatically notifies the requesting patron that the request has been cancelled. The e-mail notification message to the patron includes request and bibliographic information, as well as the cancellation reason automatically supplied by the system or entered by the staff member during the cancellation process. The patron can also view the cancellation reason in the ArticleReach request display in WebPAC.

System Cancellation of ArticleReach Requests

The system automatically cancels a request if:

  • The requested item is locally available, and the requesting patron is not enabled to request locally available items and did not choose to force paging of the request.
  • The request is not filled prior to the Not Needed After date (the date after which the patron indicates the article is no longer needed).
  • The request is either unpageable or unfillable, and the requesting site is configured to manage such requests via cancellation.
  • The request exceeds the final action threshold, and the requesting site has configured the ArticleReach Usage Thresholds feature to cancel send such requests.

Staff Cancellation of ArticleReach Requests

You can manually cancel:

Requests can be manually cancelled if their status is "NEW", "PAGED", or "IN MEDIATION".

Patron Cancellation of ArticleReach Requests

Patrons can cancel their own requests in the ArticleReach request display in WebPAC.
