cloudLibrary FAQ

Can patrons place and manage cloudLibrary holds through the app?

Yes. When a cloudLibrary title is unavailable, patrons can place a hold through the Solus Library App. Patrons can view their cloudLibrary holds in the Reservations section and cancel a hold from either the Item Details Display or Reservations.

Can patrons return cloudLibrary items through the app?

Yes. Patrons can return borrowed cloudLibrary eBooks and eAudiobooks by selecting Return from either the Item Details Display or the Checkouts section of the app.

Can we still use the cloudLibrary integration if we don’t have cloudLibrary records in our catalog?

Yes, the integration can still be used even if cloudLibrary records are not present in your ILS/LMS catalog.

In this case, cloudLibrary titles won’t appear in the app’s search results since there are no records to match or replace. However, the integration still provides value by using the cloudLibrary API to display real-time account information. Patrons will be able to:

  • See their current cloudLibrary loans

  • View cloudLibrary holds

  • Access relevant status details (due dates, hold positions, etc.)

This ensures that patrons get a more complete view of their library activity, even if title discovery through search isn’t available.

Is there any cost to configure the cloudLibrary integration?

No, there is no cost associated with configuring this integration.

How does the app determine which catalog records belong to cloudLibrary?

The Vega Mobile App matches cloudLibrary titles to existing catalog records using identifiers such as ISBNs and other metadata provided by your ILS/LMS.

When a match is found, the app replaces the catalog record’s availability and actions with real-time data from cloudLibrary. If no match exists, the title will not appear in search results.

Why do some cloudLibrary titles appear in search while others do not?

This usually means not all cloudLibrary titles are cataloged in Polaris or Sierra. Only titles with corresponding catalog records can be discovered through search.

Availability in cloudLibrary alone does not guarantee visibility in the app.

Why isn’t cloudLibrary listed in the Search In drop-down?

cloudLibrary does not operate as a separate search source within the app. Instead, cloudLibrary titles are discovered through your library's existing catalog or discovery service.

When a matching cloudLibrary record is identified, the integration enriches the catalog record with cloudLibrary information.

Do patrons need a separate cloudLibrary login?

Patrons may need to authenticate with their cloudLibrary account while within the in-app browser when accessing digital content through the app. Whether a patron is prompted to sign in depends on their existing cloudLibrary authentication session.

If a patron is unable to sign in to their cloudLibrary account or access cloudLibrary content, they may need to contact cloudLibrary Support for assistance.
