Viewing Bookings in Bookings Maintenance

To enter Bookings Maintenance and maintain bookings for the location associated with your login, you must be assigned permission 392 (Bookings Maintenance). To maintain bookings for all locations, you must be assigned permission 363 (Send notices for All locations). See Permissions Used by Sierra for more information.

You can view current, cancelled, and expired bookings in Bookings Maintenance.

Archiving Cancelled and Expired Bookings

Your library can specify how long Sierra should archive cancelled and expired bookings. For more information, see Setting Up the Product.

To view bookings in Bookings Maintenance:

  1. Choose Bookings Maintenance from the Function list.
  2. Specify the location(s) for which you want to view bookings. To do so, choose the location(s) in the Location pane. Sierra displays bookings that:
    • belong to the selected location(s)
    • are scheduled to be picked up at the selected location(s)
    You can view bookings for the Locations Served assigned to your login, all locations, or a single branch location. By default, Sierra is set to display the booking(s) that belong to the Locations Served assigned to your login.
  3. Specify the date range of the bookings you want to view using the following options in the Date pane:
    Start Date
    View bookings with start dates within the specified range in chronological order.
    End Date
    View bookings with end dates within the specified range in chronological order.
    Start or End Date
    View bookings with start dates within the specified range as well as bookings with end dates within this range. These bookings are ordered as follows: if a booking's start date is within the specified range, it is ordered chronologically by start date with other bookings whose start dates are within the range. If the start date is not within the specified range, the booking is ordered chronologically by end date with other bookings whose end dates (and not start dates) are within the range. Note that if both the start and end date are within the specified range, the booking will sort by start date.
    In the Between and and fields, specify the range of dates and times of the bookings that you want to view. By default, Sierra is set to display the booking(s) that begin sometime between the beginning of the current day and the end of the next day. (You can restore these fields to their default values by choosing Reset.)
  4. Choose Display. Sierra displays the bookings that meet the specified criteria in the Bookings Maintenance table. When viewing this table, you can perform additional tasks.

Additional Tasks in Bookings Maintenance

When viewing bookings in Bookings Maintenance, you can perform the following additional tasks:

  • View an individual booking:
    1. Select the booking you want to view.
    2. Choose the View Booking button or View Booking from the right-mouse menu.
    Note that the system disables this functionality if you select more than one booking in the table.)
  • View the associated item record:
    1. Select the booking for which you want to view the item record.
    2. Choose View | Item or View Item from the right-mouse menu.
  • View the associated patron record:
    1. Select the booking for which you want to view the patron record.
    2. Choose View | Patron or View Patron from the right-mouse menu.
  • Cancel the booking(s).
  • Print booking slips.
