Editing Special Variable-length Fields

When the cursor is in a special MARC field, such as the 006, 007, or 008, the Edit menu and the right-click menu include the Expand Field or Collapse Field command, depending on the current view of the special field. (You can also expand and contract a special MARC by pressing Ctrl+R.)

When a special field is in collapsed (or rolled-up) view, it appears as a single line variable-length field showing the actual data in the field.

In collapsed view, you can edit field data in the same manner as any other variable-length field.

When you expand a special MARC field, it displays a grid of subfields, each with a label and data, similar to the fixed-length field display.

In expanded mode, edit data in the same manner as fixed-length fields. You can edit all subfields in a special field.
