Promoting a Record's Relevance

Encore enables authorized staff patron types to "promote" the relevance of a record. When you promote a record, it appears at the top of the RightResult search list when there is an exact match on the title (MARC field 245$a). Relevance promotion is useful when more popular books fall below newer books or serials appearing in the search results.

Your library administrator uses the Patron option of the Administration Web application to designate the staff patron type(s) authorized to promote relevance. For authorized staff, the Promote Relevance control appears on the Encore record details page. When a record has been promoted, an up arrow appears next to the title on the record detail page, indicating its "promoted" status. Additionally, the Restore Relevance control appears for promoted items.
