Displaying a Check-in Message to Staff

To display a message when a serial is checked in, your organization must be configured to use the check-in message feature. Contact Innovative to enable or disable the display of check-in messages.

When a serial requires an exception to the usual check-in process, the system can display a message to alert staff. For example, if an issue is requested for reserves, you can add a message to that effect which displays when the issue is checked in. The check-in message displays when the checkin card is retrieved.

Check-in messages are stored in a variable-length field in the checkin record. Your organization decides which variable-length field will hold check-in messages.

To create the check-in message:

  1. Retrieve the checkin record.
  2. Insert a variable-length field of the type used for check-in messages.
  3. Edit the field (enter the message in the field).
  4. Click Save to save the record.
