The system displays a message similar to the following and begins loading the new software image via Secure FTP, starting with the DB server:

As the Preparation Phase completes (above), you are presented with a banner that the Preparation Phase has completed, and that you re-enter the upgrade mode at a time of your choosing, when you wish to begin the Commit Phase, during which the system will be unavailable. You may proceed into Commit Phase as soon as immediately after Preparation Phase, if you prefer and are able to have users log off the system, or at any time within 14 days of the Preparation Phase, making sure you have again completed a recent backup before beginning Commit Phase.

In order to complete the upgrade, you must reboot the system
and return in Maintenance mode.  If you are not ready to do
so at this time, you may restart the procedure from here
any time during the next fourteen days.

While the server is in Maintenance Mode, Sierra will
not be available to users, the system will be down.
