If you have enabled the Axis 360 feature, users can check out or place holds on locally-cataloged Axis 360 ebooks and audiobooks in the Encore system.

Checking Out Axis 360 Items

To check out Axis 360 items:

  1. From the record entry, click the Check Out with Axis 360 icon.
  2. If you are not already logged in, validate against the patron record.
  3. Select a format from the drop-down list.
  4. Select a checkout period from the drop-down list. Depending on how your library has set up the loan periods, Encore might offer you only one choice.
  5. Choose Check Out to check out the item or Cancel to cancel the action.

Encore displays a message stating that the checkout was successful. Click OK to continue.

After checking out the item in Encore, you can access the Axis 360 digital content via their app. Encore displays a link to Axis 360 help information at the bottom of the My Ebooks tab on the patron account page.

Placing Holds on Axis 360 Items

If the Axis 360 item is unavailable, you can place a hold on the item through Encore:

  1. Click the Place Hold with Axis 360 icon in the record entry.
  2. Validate against the patron record.
  3. At the prompt, submit an email address and click Place Hold. Encore displays a message if the hold is successful. Click OK to continue.

Encore displays held items in the display of eContent checkouts and holds.

When the item is ready for fulfillment, Axis 360 notifies the patron via email. From the display of eContent checkouts and holds, patrons can find the item listed under eContent holds. From this list, the patron can check out the item.
