Bookmarking in Talis Aspire

This feature requires integration with Talis Aspire, a third-party reading list management system (RLMS). For information on setup, see Integrating Talis Aspire.

If you find resources in Encore that you want to add to your bookmarks in Talis Aspire, you can use Encore to do this. You don't even need to be logged into Encore.

Bookmarking a Resource

To bookmark a resource in Talis Aspire:

  1. In Encore, search for the resource.
  2. Under Additional actions, select More actions, and then select Bookmark on Talis.

You can find the additional actions on the results list page, on a resource's record detail page, and in the book cart.

This step redirects you from Encore to the Talis Aspire site. If you're not already signed into Talis Aspire, the system prompts you to do so.

  3. Sign in if needed.

Because information about the resource was passed from Encore to Talis Aspire, creation of the bookmark is started automatically, and some of its information is already entered.

  4. Finish adding the bookmark.

For help with this last step, see the Talis support site.

Bookmarking Multiple Resources at Once

To use this procedure, Encore must be integrated with EndNote, a third-party citation manager. Alternatively, you can bookmark each resource individually as described above.

To bookmark multiple resources at once in Talis Aspire:

  1. In Encore, search for one of the resources.
  2. Add the resource to your book cart.
  3. Repeat the preceding steps as needed to add all the resources to the book cart.
  4. Access the book cart, and export the resources to EndNote.

The export process creates a Research Information Systems (RIS) file.

  5. Follow the browser prompts to save the RIS file to a location on your machine.
  6. Go to the Talis Aspire site and sign in.
  7. Import the RIS file as a reading list.

For help with this last step, see the Talis support site.
