Multiple Branch Hours Configuration Fixes and Enhancements

  • In the Vega Admin new checkbox was added to the copy hours configuration functions that allows you to copy an hours override setting to additional locations.

  • In the Vega Admin a preview button was added to the Library Info widget configuration that displays the currently selected the location’s hours as they will appear in Vega.

  • The Library Info popup now displays locations in alphabetical order.

  • A fix was applied to correct a problem where sometimes the Today’s hours section was still displaying when an override was set in the Hours settings.

Bookshelf and Search Workflow Enhancement

When a user has the bookshelf expanded and they use either of the search boxes in Vega, the drawer will collapse to reveal the search results for view.

Consortia Location Filter

  • In the Vega Admin new checkbox was added to the Collection Sites configuration under Locations > Preferred Locations called “Limit the consortia collection site to only the selected preferred locations.

  • When this checkbox is enabled the Collection Site will ONLY display materials belonging to the selected preferred locations.

  • When this checkbox is disabled the Collection Site will display all consortia branch materials.

  • Recap of Preferred Locations function: Selecting Preferred Locations causes Vega to display the selected location(s) by default on search results with a view all locations option to view content owned by other library locations.

Work with your Development Partner Product Manager to enable and explore this new feature.

ISBN and UPC Searchable In Everything Search

The Vega default ‘everything’ search will now include ISBNs and UPCs.

This feature requires indexing. We will alert you when the indexing is complete.

Rollups and Author Dates Improved Logic

Rollup logic has been improved to ignore the Author date when an author and title match is made.

This feature requires indexing. We will alert you when the indexing is complete.

Fix for Non-US Dates

When a library uses non-US dates Vega will now use the correct data format and will display the correct circulation status of materials based on this date.

New Books List (Catalog Date based) Sorting and Filtering for Searches

  • A new sort option has been added to Vega Discover called “New Materials”. Using this sort will arrange your search results in order of newest catalog date to oldest.

  • A companion facet filter called “New materials” can be turned on from the Staff Admin facets and will display as the last facet in the Refine Results panel. This facet has four options available for selection from a drop-down menu: this week, this month, this quarter, and this year. Applying this facet will limit search results to materials with a catalog date in the selected period.

  • Together this sort and filter can be used to create a rolling date saved search of new materials for libraries that use the catalog date for new books. Use this saved search for an embedded showcase to highlight your library’s new books.

OPAC Message Display for Sierra Customers

For libraries that use the Sierra OPAC Message field for collection information this field will now display in the Location Drawer and will be appended to Call Number displays if present for available materials.

Editions Sorting Improvement

The sort of items within the editions table on the full resource page of Vega titles has been improved to sort correctly for months and seasons.

ISBN Search Fix

ISBNs that end in an x can now be found using the everything search in Vega

OverDrive Mobile View Fix

When checking out OverDrive materials on a mobile device the OverDrive popup window now displays a larger viewing area including the checkout action buttons. The view window is larger, easier to navigate, and more clearly scrollable to avoid patron confusing when accessing OverDrive materials through Vega.
