Configuring ExpressCheck Options

The web-based Polaris ExpressCheck uses the same settings as the legacy ExpressCheck application. These settings are found in Polaris System Administration (web-based), Polaris Administration (staff client), and Polaris Web Admin Tool (Language Editor).

The options you can configure for ExpressCheck fall into the following categories:

• Setting Account and Circulation Options — Enables ExpressCheck and sets options governing patron access, display, and receipt printing. Done in Polaris System Administration (web-based).

• Allow User Names and a Forgotten Password Link — Allows patrons to sign on to ExpressCheck using a user name instead of barcode, and provide a link that allows patrons to receive an email message to reset their passwords. Done in Polaris Administration (staff client).

• Restricting ExpressCheck Circulation by Material Type — Restricts the circulation of specific material types in ExpressCheck using the SelfCheck Material Types policy table. Done in Polaris System Administration (web-based).

• Setting ExpressCheck Circulation Blocks — Sets circulation blocks related to patron records, item records, and material types that apply specifically to ExpressCheck circulation transactions. Done in Polaris System Administration (web-based).

• Editing ExpressCheck Messages — (Optional) Customizes ExpressCheck language strings for English and other licensed languages. Done in the Polaris Web Admin Tool (Language Editor).
