Advanced Searching

The Advanced Search form helps you build a query composed of search terms and search limits. Encore displays your query, as you create it, in a text box at the top of the form. You can copy and reuse this string for searches from the standard search box or in pass-through searches from other library Web pages. For information on the various options available on this form, see Advanced Search Options.

To build an advanced search:

  1. Choose an index slice to search. (Keyword searches all indexes.)
  2. Enter a search term. (See Search Terms more information.)
  3. (Optional) Use the Boolean operator buttons to specify relationships for additional search terms.
  4. (Optional) Specify any search modifiers you want to apply. (See Search Limits for more information.)
  5. After you have built the query you want, choose Search.

Note that you can click Reset search at any time to clear the current query and start over.
