Ready for Beta: Social Media Sharing of Images

Limited to libraries in the beta testing group.

We've enhanced our social media sharing capabilities! You can now share images along with the title and description directly to Facebook and X. This improvement makes it easier than ever to showcase your content with added context and visual appeal.

Ready for Beta: My Bookshelf Availability

This feature requires a post-deployment step and should be available by Friday, January 10 or Saturday, January 11 depending on your time zone.

To help prepare staff before this is released at the end of January, we've created a test account where you can explore the new functionality.

Explore the new My Bookmarks Availability feature! Patrons with items saved to their For Later list or any list will now see an aggregate view suggesting items that are available now.

  • 6 featured titles that are available now, with a link to a page with all available items.

  • Search by:

    • Author (default)

    • Format

    • Language

    • Location

    • Title

    • Publication Date

    • Series

    • Concept

  • Limit to items that are Available Now or see All items.

  • Format availability icons to help you quickly identify if your preferred format is available.

  1. Search Format, Language, and Location using upper and lowercase text.

  2. Translations previously added for locations and formats will show when searching My Bookmarks.

New Languages Available: German

Two DefaultGerman language translations have been added to Vega Discover. You can now enable German DE or CH in the Vega Discover Admin > Localization Settings > Configuration. When enabled these languages will display in the Vega Discover language drop-down as Deutsch DE and/or Deutsch CH languages.

Bug Fixes

Ready for Beta: Social Media Sharing

We anticipate improvements to social media sharing that will:

  1. Fix a bug preventing the image from pushing to Facebook.

  2. Limit the title and descriptions shared to fit the allowable number of characters.

Hoopla Fixes

  1. Series info display: Series info from Hoopla records ingested through the Hoopla APIs will now display Series Titles.

  2. Video Series' from Hoopla will additionally display the Season and Episode info with the series title.

To enable these changes you must run a 'Full Sync' extraction for your Hoopla subscription. We recommend that you schedule this to run over night. If you have any trouble scheduling this update reach out to support for assistance.

Ready for Beta: Social Media Sharing

Social media sharing functionality is now enabled for https://patron.experience.iiivega.com/.

In draft view, images and metadata will only appear once you start editing or publish the post without edits.

Improvements to search results sharing:

  1. The first image from the search results is shared on X or Facebook

  2. Search information is included in the social media post

  3. Shared URL links back to the Vega search results page

Improvements to the full resource card sharing:

  1. First 50 characters of the title are shared on X or Facebook

  2. Description is truncated to 150 characters for X or Facebook posts

  3. Item image is included in the social media post

Bug Fixes

Adding Home Page Components to a New Site

Fixed an issue where the first component on a new collection site required a double addition to save.

Translation String for the Showcase Group

Resolved a bug where the translation string appeared after using the "Back" button to cancel an edit.

Vega Program Home Page Integration

Fixed a configuration issue for collection sites or kiosks with the Vega Program API. Note: Consortium's should configure at the main site level OR member libraries should configure at the collection site level.

New Site Background (Premium/Consortium)

Corrected an issue where the main site background appeared on newly created sites.

Kids Theme (Premium/Consortium)

Fixed a bug where the theme picker wasn't visible on children's home pages until a component was saved.

Custom Pills (Premium/Consortium)

Resolved an issue to ensure custom pills changed from Showcase to URL remain on the home page and open in a new tab.
