Creating a CrossRef External Lookup

External origins send a DOI meta tag in OpenURLs that can be resolved by the CrossRef external lookup service.

To use the CrossRef External Lookup service, enable the WebBridge resolution server for the DOI meta tags according to the following procedure.

  1. Choose External Lookups from the menu on the left-hand side of the WebBridge LR home page.

    The External Lookups tab displays:

    External Lookups tab
  2. Choose the Create New button.

The External Lookup (new) tab displays:

    External Lookup (new) tab
  3. In the Name text box, enter:

    CrossRef
  4. In the Code text box, enter:

    crossref

The code determines which mapping file the WebBridge LR resolution server uses.
  5. In the URL text box, enter:

    http://doi.crossref.org/servlet/query?id=#@DOI#&pid=<your_library>

The URL contains the field selector #@DOI#. You must create this field selector.
    NOTE

This URL appears on multiple lines for display purposes only.

Enter the URL in the text box without line breaks.

If you cut and paste a URL, you can introduce line breaks that prevent the URL from functioning. Remove line breaks from any URL that you paste into the text box.

  6. Choose Save.
