Features

Fine Payment Workflow Updates

PayPal

When a library has PayPal configured, the Pay Total Fines and Pay Selected Fines buttons are now present. Individual fines can be selected. The configured minimum payment is respected, preventing users from using payment buttons unless the minimum amount threshold is met. Minimum payment amount is displayed correctly on the fine payment page. The configured payment message is displayed on the fine payment page.

Other Fine Payment Option

When a library is using the Other payment option, individual fines cannot be selected. A single fine payment button is presented. The configured minimum payment is respected, preventing users from using payment buttons unless the minimum amount threshold is met. Minimum payment amount is displayed correctly on the fine payment page. The configured payment message is displayed on fine payment page.

No Configuration

When there is no fine payment configuration set, the fine page does not display a payment button and instead displays the following message: "All fines and fees must be paid at the library. Contact your library". "Contact your library" is a link used to direct the user to the Library Info popup or an outside library contact page as configured.

Reading History Workflow Updates

Reading History opt-in and opt-out is no longer located in the Edit Account workflow. The Reading History opt-in status indicator in the Account Portal is now an action button that accesses the opt-in and opt-out workflows. When an opted in user clicks this button they can choose to opt-out or view their reading history.

For linked accounts, the managing account can view Reading History for their linked accounts. To protect linked patrons from opt-out by 2-way and 1-way linked managing accounts, Reading History can only be opted in and opted out in individual accounts.

Linked Account View Updates

When a patron has linked accounts, they can now choose to view transactions in all views for:

  1. Their account only

  2. All linked accounts

  3. Selected linked accounts

The selected account(s) are maintained during your account session until changed (or logout) as you switch between views: overview, checkouts, holds, reading history, fines, lists, and saved searches.

When deselecting all, the user is reset to their account view.

In the Fines view, only one patron's fines can be paid at a time, so fine payments cannot be made when more than one account is selected in this view.

Polaris Checkouts Renewal Improvement

Recently a Renewals Remaining feature was added for Polaris patrons to the checkouts view.

Now when items are not allowed to be renewed based on Polaris policies the renew button and renewals remaining count will not display when an item cannot be renewed due to other conditions such as pending holds by other patrons. Instead, a message displays in place of the renew button: "Not renewable".

Accessibility Updates

Following our Accessibility review by Deque's third party accessibility experts, we are applying updates to Vega Discover workflows.

  • Updates were applied to differentiate the context of links.

  • Updates were applied to non-text contrast that did not meet required 3:1 contrast ratios.

  • Updates were applied for Color Contrast throughout Vega Discover to improve color ratios to 4.5:1 where required.

Discover Preview

Following the completion of Early Access, Discover Preview will soon be available for all libraries.

All libraries, including those who were a part of Early Access, will receive a notification in August on how to access your new Collection site. Your onboarding invitation will have links to documentation, a workflow to get your access and information on how to leverage the Collection Site going forward.

We wish to thank all libraries that participated in Early Access! This continues to be the best way for us to gain valuable quality information and feedback from our users. We look forward to sharing our first 'Preview' features in the October release.

Vega Reports for Discover

Vega Reports Role Visibility Enhancement

We have improved visibility into Reports permissions by adding Reports Access Level to User Management filters and displaying Reports roles within the user profile menu. These enhancements make it easier for administrators to review, validate, and manage user access throughout the system.

Fixes

Fixed timeout-related issue could unexpectedly log users out while interacting with Vega Reports. Staff users can now work on reports without disruption and improved session stability.

Discover August Release Patch

Release date: August 6, 2026

A security update that was applied in the August Release code unexpectedly caused the following issues for Vega Discover customers:

  • Some Custom Header code was unable to be rendered as expected.

  • Custom Book Cover URLs were unable to provide book cover images for catalog titles.

  • Book Cover URLs from outside sources such as Hoopla were unable to provide book cover images for catalog titles.

We are applying a patch for this issue. The patch will be applied during the normal release update windows for all customers during early morning August 6th local time and will resolved all header and cover image issues.

At the time this email was sent, the patch has been applied to all customers in the EU, AP, and SG environments. NA, NA2-5, and CA environments will be updated during the early morning hours August 6th.
