Configure OAI-PMH connections

You can add multiple connections to harvest metadata from providers who use the Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH). After you add OAI-PMH connections, you can share the metadata to collection sites.

You can use one of the following methods to include thumbnail images:

  • A URL of an image
  • A URL that uses an identifier code from a Dublin Core (DC) field in your object metadata.
    Example: example.com/cover?id=##header.identifier##/image
  • A field in your DC metadata that contains a URL to the repository image.
    Example: ##metadata.dc.relation##
  • After you add your OAI-PMI connections, you must contact Support to schedule your harvest and updates. We recommend that you harvest metadata every week.

  • If a repository or an element isn’t found, Vega uses the default cover.
